中文摘要: 在经济学理论研究中,竞赛(也称锦标赛)指的是“参与者为获得某种奖励,努力作出业绩而相互竞争”的情形。竞赛情形在现实中很常见,如:个人为得到晋升或公司为得到政府采购合同而进行的竞争等。已有文献的研究都集中在单维度竞赛,即参与人只在一个维度上竞争。但现实中的很多“竞赛情形”都属于多维度竞赛:如在组织内部的“晋升竞赛”中,候选人一般需在“业务能力”和“管理能力”两个方面同时竞争。本课题拟首先拓展文献中已有的多维度 Tullock 竞赛模型,并构建一个新的多维度 L-R (Lazear-Rosen) 竞赛模型。之后,在这两个模型中研究包括“多维度竞赛按维度进行拆分或组合”在内的若干个有关最优竞赛机制设计的问题。本课题的结论将对组织(如政府或企事业单位)内晋升和奖励体系的改革和制度创新(如我国的法官晋升体系改革和公务员薪酬体系改革)提供理论支持和政策指导。

英文摘要: In economic theory, contests (also called tournaments) refer to situations where “players compete with each other by exerting effort in order to win some prize”. Contest situations are commonplace in the real world, examples include: individuals competing for promotions, firms competing for government procurement contracts, etc. The existing literature focuses on single-dimensional contests, where players competing in a single dimension. However, in many situations of the real world players compete in multiple dimensions: For instance, in a promotion contest, candidates often need to expand efforts in two dimensions to show his “professional ability” and “administrative ability”. This study plans to first extend the existing multi-dimensional Tullock contest model and construct a new multi-dimensional L-R (Lazear-Rosen) contest model. Then in both models, several issues regarding optimal contest design, including “division or union in multi-dimensional contests”, will be analyzed. The results of this study will provide theoretical support and policy guidance for organizations (e.g., government, enterprises and institutions) which are reforming and innovating their promotion and reward systems (e.g., reforms on judge promotion system and salary system of civil servants in China).
