Discrete optimization problems and combinatorial structures are ubiquitous in machine learning. They arise for discrete labels with complex dependencies, structured estimators, learning with graphs, partitions, permutations, or when selecting informative subsets of data or features.

What are efficient algorithms for handling such problems? Can we robustly solve them in the presence of noise? What about streaming or distributed settings? Which models are computationally tractable and rich enough for applications? What theoretical worst-case bounds can we show? What explains good performance in practice?

Such questions are the theme of the DISCML workshop. It aims to bring together theorists and practitioners to explore new applications, models and algorithms, and mathematical properties and concepts that can help learning with complex interactions and discrete structures.

We invite high-quality submissions that present recent results related to discrete and combinatorial problems in machine learning, and submissions that discuss open problems or controversial questions and observations, e.g., missing theory to explain why algorithms work well in certain instances but not in general, or illuminating worst case examples. We also welcome the description of well-tested software and benchmarks.

Areas of interest include, but are not restricted to:
-discrete optimization in context of deep learning
-bridging discrete and continuous optimization methods
-graph algorithms
-continuous relaxations
-learning and inference in discrete probabilistic models
-algorithms for large data (streaming, sketching, distributed)
-online learning
-new applications

Databases are present in almost every IT system and collect data describing many areas of human lives and human activity. Collecting and processing of an increasing number of data makes it necessary to use computer architectures and data structures providing high performance and high availability of database systems. Moreover, a vast majority of data require appropriate processing and searching algorithms in order to make the data readable for users and to discover the knowledge that is hidden inside the data.

Beyond Databases, Architectures and Structures (BDAS) is a series of conferences that intends to give the state-of-the-art of the research that satisfies the needs of modern, widely understood database systems, architectures, models, structures, and algorithms focused on processing various types of data. The aim of the conference is to reflect the most recent developments of databases and allied techniques used for solving problems in a variety of areas related to database systems, or even go one step forward - beyond the horizon of existing databases, architectures and data structures.

The 14th BDAS Conference (technically co-sponsored by IEEE) held in Poznan, Poland during IFIP World Computer Congress, is a continuation of the highly successful BDAS conference series started in 2005. The Conference is focused on all aspects of databases. It is intended to have a broad scope, including different kinds of data acquisition, processing and storing.

Virtualization has a central role in modern systems. It constitutes a key aspect in a wide range of environments, from small mobile computing devices to large-scale data centers and computational clouds. Virtualization techniques encompass the underlying hardware, the operating system, and the runtime system. Although these layers have different design and implementation techniques, the fundamental challenges and insights tend to be similar.

The 14th ACM SIGPLAN/SIGOPS International Conference on Virtual Execution Environments (VEE’18) brings together researchers and practitioners from different computer systems domains to interact and share ideas in order to advance the state of the art of virtualization and broaden its applicability. VEE’18 accepts both full-length and short papers. Both types of submissions are reviewed to the same standards and differ primarily in the scope of the ideas expressed. Short papers are limited to half the space of full-length papers. The program committee will not accept a full paper on the condition that it is cut down to fit in a short paper slot, nor will it invite short papers to be extended to full length. Submissions will be considered only in the category in which they are submitted.

We invite authors to submit original papers related to virtualization across all layers of the software stack down to the microarchitectural level. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
-architecture support for virtualization;
-compiler and programming language support for virtualization;
-managed runtimes and virtual machines;
-management technologies for virtual environments;
-memory management;
-operating system support for virtualization;
-performance analysis and debugging for virtual environments;
-runtime system support for virtualization;
-security and virtual environments
-virtual I/O, storage, and networking;
-virtualization in cloud computing
-virtualization support for programs and programmers;
-virtualization technologies applied to specific problem domains such as HPC, realtime, and power management.

Due to the explosive evolution of Information Technology and Computer Science, we have entered in the Big Data Age, and this is really a scientific revolution, not just a fashion. As always, the technological aspects evolve faster than the scientific community mentality. Transforming Big Data into Big Knowledge and developing a new kind of Knowledge-Based Systems require new visions and approaches.

2018 International Conference on Big Data Technologies has the goal to be an annual conference for researchers, academicians and industry persons in the field of Computer Science.It will be organized in Hangzhou, China  during May 18-20, 2018. We hope that this conference will attract a large number of delegates from all over the world and will consist of very high quality technical sessions. It will help You to:
-Get greater understanding of Big Data Technologies
-Gain deeper insights on Big Data use cases across various domains and industries
-Unravel new possibilities by using Big Data to support your academic & research work
