About the position
We have a vacancy for a Tenure-track Associate Professor in Computer Vision at the Department of Computer Science, Gjøvik.
The candidate is expected to play a major role in be teaching and supervision in computer science. The candidate for the position will primarily support the Bachelor in Engineering - Computer Science. The associate professor will play a role in developing the educational profile in the computer science programs and ensuring an excellent learning environment, in collaboration with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. The faculty’s study programs should have a strong international profile, and the associate professor is expected to be able to contribute to the development of international alliances and collaboration.
During the tenure track period of six years, the successful applicant will be given professional guidance, training, and advice by mentors appointed by the department to build a successful academic career. The applicant will be subject to a mid-career assessment after three years, and a final tenure assessment after no more than six years. It is expected that the applicant will qualify for a full professorship at the end of the tenure-track period.

Qualification requirements
Associate Professor (førsteamanuensis):
The position of Associate Professor requires university education in Computer vision, Computer science or equivalent, at least at doctoral level.
The ability to initiate and lead research and development work will be emphasized. Strong emphasis will be placed on publication of research results in recognized international journals within his or her subject area. The greatest emphasis is placed on academic work during the past five years (depending on the disciplinary tradition).
The candidate must:
hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in computer vision, computer science or a closely related area. The Ph.D. should have been awarded in the last five years have a strong background in computer vision, and have a specific focus on color in computer vision. Knowledge of one or more of the following areas is beneficial: color imaging, machine learning, computer graphics or GPU programming be able to teach courses in our Bachelor in computer engineering (“programming” and “computer vision”) have experience and potential in teaching, research and scientific output be able to lead, conduct, consult and collaborate in research projects within applied computer science
Advantage if the candidate has knowledge of java programming.
Documented external funding and experience with research leadership will be rated positively. Experience in collaboration with industry or relevant public-sector institutions is an advantage. The candidate must be able to document significant research experience and contributions in the international frontline within the field of the position.
Experience with development of courses and educational activities, and supervision of students will be regarded as positive for applicants to the associate professorship. The applicants should also demonstrate the communication skills required for excellent teaching, supervision and dissemination.

Other requirements:
Basic qualifications in the discipline of education are required. Anyone who is appointed without having formal basic qualifications in the discipline of education (formerly referred to as practical qualifications in teaching at university level) and who is unable to document equivalent qualifications is required to complete an approved course within two years of appointment. Uniped at NTNU offers qualifying courses.
Pedagogical skills and qualifications will be emphasized. The evaluation will be based on documented material related to teaching, forms of presentation for the academic works, experience in teaching, supervision of doctoral and master’s degree subjects as well as other types of pedagogical background. Applicants with teaching experience at university level will be preferred. Quality and breadth will be evaluated.
Employees who do not have formal qualifications in teaching at university level and who cannot provide documentation of equivalent qualifications must complete an approved pedagogical development programmewithin two years of appointment.
The person appointed must comply with the decisions about changes due to developments in the subject area, and the organizational changes that may result from decisions regarding the university's activities.
It is a prerequisite that within three years of appointment new employees who do not speak a Scandinavian language can demonstrate skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language equivalent to level three in the course in Norwegian for speakers of other languages at the Department of Language and Literature at NTNU.
